Newcastle United are reportedly now ‘on the lookout’ to sign Boubacar Kamara before the summer transfer window ends.

The Lowdown: ‘Good discussions’

According to L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), the St. James’ Park faithful have held ‘good discussions’ with Marseille over a potential move for Kamara.

He would not mind changing teams, and so a deal could still be possible before the window shuts.

The Latest: ‘On the lookout’

As per L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), it is now ‘money time’ for Marseille, in other words they need to start selling players before bringing any new ones to the club.

The Magpies are now said to be ‘on the lookout’ to sign Kamara, and retain an interest in him, although they are looking more for a ‘box-to-box’ midfield player.

Marseille would be looking for a fee in the region of €15m (£12.9m) from the North East club should they follow up their interest in the Frenchman.

The Verdict: Sign

For a player who is currently rated at £33.3m by Transfermarkt, to get Kamara for potentially as little as £12.9m could turn out to be a real bargain for the Tyneside club.

Once dubbed a ‘phenomenon’ by his former teammate Rolando back in May 2020, he still has a lot of potential at just 21 years of age, and his value will only increase.

Nonetheless, playing for an established European club in Marseille, Kamara should have little problem in adapting to life in the Premier League, and could be a valuable addition to Steve Bruce’s squad.

West Ham United could revisit their interest in Torino striker Andrea Belotti, according to ExWHUEmployee. 

The Irons have apparently held an interest in Belotti in the past, and a move could be explored once again.

Belotti has fired in 105 goals and provided 28 assists in 228 all-time appearances for Torino.

Last season, the 27-year-old scored 13 for a side that only avoided relegation to Serie B by four points.

His performances earned him a call-up to the Italy squad for the European Championships earlier in the summer.

Belotti only started one match for the eventual winners – the Group A finale against Wales. By that point, Italy had secured passage to the Round of 16.

With only a year remaining on his contract, he’s valued at £31.5million by Transfermarkt, but Belotti is by no means the only striker with whom the Hammers have been linked.

That’s according to a report by The Athletic, who claim that Forest are showing a considerable amount of interest in the Manchester City winger ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window.

The report continues by stating that, despite the fact it would take a bid totalling £9m in order to secure the permanent transfer of the 19-year-old, Dane Murphy could be planning to test the waters with a heavily structured offer.

TEAMtalk reported back in May that the St. James’ Park faithful had the opportunity to sign McCarthy on a free transfer once his deal at Crystal Palace had expired.

The North East club were reportedly looking closely at his situation, and the Republic of Ireland international is now a free agent.

The Latest: Newcastle ‘huge lure’

As per 90min, the opportunity to work with Graeme Jones on Tyneside is a ‘huge lure’ for McCarthy, of whom Jones is a ‘big fan’ of.

Celtic had previously held talks with the central midfield player, while both West Ham United and Burnley are also credited with an interest.

The Verdict: Sign

Steve Bruce needs to add more depth to his squad, and there may not be a better opportunity than to sign McCarthy up for no transfer fee.

Of course, wages would have to be discussed, given that he earned £50,000-per-week while at the Eagles, but the spending is virtually minimal for a player so experienced in the Premier League.

McCarthy has played in no fewer than 272 games in total across all competitions over the last 12 consecutive campaigns in the top flight, for both Wigan Athletic and Everton as well as at Selhurst Park (Transfermarkt).

Nonetheless, the 30-year-old could be a player that would work well under Jones and Bruce, bringing experience to the heart of midfield.
