Ricky Ponting has said he was shocked by Cricket Australia’s decision to drop Simon Katich from the list of centrally contracted players. Ponting also said Katich was justified in calling the decision to cut him from the list “absolutely ridiculous”, during a forthright press conference at which he announced he would play on for New South Wales.”It’s fair to say he [Katich] didn’t hold back in his press conference and rightly so as well,” Ponting said on the Nine Network’s AFL . “To be omitted from the contract list was a great shock to him. It was a shock to me. His performance in the last two or three years has been as good as anybody’s in the world.”The decision will put Ponting and Michael Hussey – the only two players over 35 left with a contract – under extra pressure to perform. The scrutiny on Ponting will be especially strong, given that in the past two years he has averaged 38 in Test cricket compared to Katich’s mark of 48.”It puts us 36-year-olds on notice now, Mike Hussey and myself,” he said. “It’s going to make us work that little bit harder. I would have liked to have another old bloke around the group with me. Surrey slumped to the fourth defeat of their Twenty20 campaign against a rampant Somerset at The Oval, limping to 131 for 8 in pursuit of the visitors’ 169 for 7. A typically explosive start from Marcus Trescothick set the platform for James Hildreth’s fluent fifty, and a slick all-round performance from Somerset’s bowling attack meant Surrey were never able to launch a full assault on the target.Trescothick, who is the competition’s leading runscorer by some distance, continued his rich vein of form to put together an opening stand of 58 in five overs with a far more subdued Peter Trego. He slammed three fours and a six in the first five balls of Yasir Arafat’s second over to motor to 35 from just 16 deliveries, but was then clean bowled heaving at the sixth to give Surrey some respite.Zafar Ansari’s introduction in the seventh over tempered Somerset even further, as he conceded just three runs from his first six deliveries and generally denied the batsmen the opportunity to score. The frustration eventually got to Trego, who ran past a flighted delivery to be stumped for a run-a-ball 27.Jos Buttler gave a teasing taster of his talent in a short cameo that included some audacious shots before getting a thin edge on a bouncer from Stuart Meaker, who used the short ball to good effect to get rid of a threatening Kieron Pollard two overs later. India chipped away at the wickets at the other end, with Umesh Yadav picking up two wickets and Iqbal Abdulla grabbing three. Marcus Trescothick has admitted he is lost for answers when it comes to Somerset’s record of falling at the final hurdle after they came up short against Surrey at Lord’s in the Clydesdale Bank 40 final. It meant a fifth runner’s-up position in two seasons for a county that is gaining the reputation of not being able to go that one step further.Somerset slumped to 79 for 5 in the final – with Trescothick the first man dismissed – and although Jos Buttler’s 86 carried them 214 it didn’t prove enough to seriously challenge Surrey in a Duckworth-Lewis run chase. It left Trescothick fielding familiar questions which he fielded with honesty as he said everything the team had tried to overcome their finals’ jinx had failed.”What more can you say to justify it or tell you what’s wrong? I don’t know if I’m honest,” he said. “We’ve looked at different things but it’s not working out when we get to this point. It’s another kick in the teeth”I’m out of ideas to try and improve. I’m out of answers. We didn’t bat as well as we could do, whether that’s nerves I don’t know. It’s something we need to address and it needs some honest answers.”He also acknowledged how tough the result would be for the Somerset supporters. “I apologise for putting everyone through this,” he said. “We are playing great cricket for 99% of the season and we all love coming to the big finals. فتوح انضم إلى قائمة مباراة الزمالك وفيوتشر، إلا أن نبيه استبعده من قائمة الـ18 قبل المواجهة.

استطاع الزمالك الفوز على فيوتشر بهدفين لهدف، في المباراة التي أقيمت اليوم الأحد بالجولة الـ16 من عمر مسابقة الدوري.

وقال نبيه خلال تصريحات في المؤتمر الصحفي بعد المباراة: “فتوح كان بعيدًا عن التدريبات الجماعية خلال الفترة الماضية”.

وأضاف: “بعد عودتي، عاد مرة أخرى للتدريبات الجماعية، كان من الصعب مشاركته اليوم بعد غيابه عن التدريبات لمدة طويلة”.

وواصل: “مباراة فاركو القادمة سيكون جاهزًا للمشاركة، بعد جاهزيته فنيًا وبدنيًا”.

وأكمل المدير الفني للزمالك: “جئنا من مرحلة صعبة جدا وكان ضروري أن نعمل على عدة جوانب معنوية، وساعدنا اليوم إصرار اللاعبين وقدمنا شوط أول جيد ونجحنا في تسجيل هدفين وأضعنا أكثر من كرة وفي الشوط الثاني فيوتشر قدم أداء منظمًا ولكننا نجحنا في المطلوب”.

واستطرد: “المباريات القادمة جميعها صعبة، لأننا خامس الدوري وهذا لم نتعامل معه خلال المواسم الماضية، لكننا سنعمل بكل جد، الفترة القادمة علينا أن نكسب مباريات وليس أن نلعب، هذه المرحلة علينا المكسب فقط ومرحلة اللعب ستأتي”.

وتابع: “أشكر اللاعبين والجماهير على دعمهم لنا، كانت هناك حيرة بسبب التغييرات لأن اللاعبين الموجودين في الملعب قدموا شكلاً فنيًا جيدًا، يجب أن تعلم جيداً كيفية التعامل النفسي مع اللاعبين، وسيف الجزيري يحتاج لتعامل نفسي معين، أنا تواجدت في النادي لمدة عامين وتشرفت أنني عملت مع فيريرا فهو إضافة كبيرة لأي مكان”.

وأتم: “من الوارد أن ينضم لنا 3 لاعبين في انتقالات يناير”.
